We host events for Stanford alumni and affiliated universities in the San Francisco Bay Area and at local chapters throughout the United States. Our events are opportunities to socialize, network, and participate in community service projects. We look forward to seeing you soon! Stanford Pride Board of Directors The national Board of Directors establishes and ensures implementation of the mission, objectives, and programs of the organization. The Board meets monthly via teleconference call and every July for a weekend retreat. The organization is governed in accordance to our by-laws. Treasurer of Stanford Pride MS Computer Science '74 Houston, TX Claude was raised in France, and did his undergraduate studies in Paris. He has worked in France, California and Massachusetts, and is currently working in Houston as Information Technology Advisor for the research division of Schlumberger, a global oilfield services company. Claude met his partner Ed in Austin in 1983. Claude has written two books on software engineering. His personal interests are the performing arts, reading, travel and foreign languages. Co-President of Stanford Pride BS Engineering '95 Bay Area, CA As a member of both black and LGBT communities, Mr. Anietie Ekanem recognizes the problems and understands the similarities being faced by the LGBT community and Africans in the Diaspora. As a result, he is committed to using his technical expertise to foster wellness. A Stanford graduate in Computer Science, Mr. Ekanem has combined his consulting background his work for various corporations and start up companies, and his passion for community to start activelyOUT.com, a social entrepreneurial venture designed to foster real world relationships in the LGBT community while leveraging social networking technology. A current board member, Mr. Ekanem has also founded Wireless Africa Foundation to provide health, and educational services to countries in Africa using wireless technology. He extends his vision domestically by providing free wireless to West Oakland, California. With over 11 years of product management and senior management experience creating revenue, customer traction, and new industries; He has introduced innovative products in internet infrastructure, wireless infrastructure, ecommerce, digital media, wireless applications, and social networking. AB History '81 Washington, DC BA Psychology '05 Los Angeles, CA During his time at Stanford, Skyler was on staff at the LGBT Community Resource Center and served as the Program Director of Safe and Open Spaces at Stanford (SOSAS), an awareness building campus workshop program concerning sexual diversity and gender identity on campus. Before completing his undergraduate career in 2005, he served as President for multiple queer volunteer student organizations, including Black and Queer at Stanford (BlaQS) and Queerillas, a LGBT activist organization he co-founded during his sophomore year. Despite his Midwestern roots, Skyler now resides in Los Angeles, CA where he is a Program Specialist at ENCOMPASS, a youth development organization that focuses on building an appreciation of differences among California teenagers. AB Science, Technology, & Society '00 Bay Area, CA Secretary of Stanford Pride BA Feminist Studies '01 Bay Area, CA Elly spent her time at Stanford as a volunteer and staff member at the LGBT CRC; co-founder of Stanford Students for Choice; and on the steering committee for a multi-racial student coalition that won increased University support for the ethnic, women's, and LGBT community centers. After graduation, she completed the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs, a graduate-level, hands-on education in leadership and public policy involving seven consultancy projects and interviews with dozens of leaders in fields such as media, agriculture, philanthropy, state government, and more (www.coro.org). She spent the next two years managing Coro's high school program. She now works for Working Partnerships USA, a coalition of community, neighborhood, faith, and labor groups that works to improve the lives of Silicon Valley's working families through research, policy development, education, and advocacy (www.wpusa.org). She serves on the Board for SF EARN, which helps the working poor move up the economic ladder and into the financial mainstream through matched savings accounts that allow them to invest in home ownership, small business, or education (www.sfearn.org). She also volunteers with San Jose's Billy DeFrank LGBT Community Center as a coming-out support group facilitator (www.defrank.org). She lives in San Jose Japantown with her partner and a growing garden. BA Feminist Studies '05 Bay Area, CA After receiving her Bachelors of Arts with Honors from Stanford University in Feminist Studies in 2005, Jane worked in mainstream and independent film and television production in Los Angeles. Interning at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and Equality California confirmed her commitment to non-profit work and social justice which led her to a position as the Membership Director at Sequoia YMCA in Redwood City. Jane enjoys distance running and currently lives in San Francisco. BS Computer Science '00 Bay Area, CA Sean is a native Californian that has remained in the Bay Area after graduating from Stanford. He started worked in the electronics industry (ECAD/EDA) but switched later to IT/Web Services and has been working for Stanford since 1996. He's also been a volunteer with CHAC/Outlet in Mountain View for the last few years - an organization serving LGBTQQ youth in the Bay Area. BA English '03 Philadelphia, PA Charlie Rose '03 was active in the LGBT community at Stanford. After graduating, he continued his commitment to the Stanford community by hosting the monthly intercollegiate LGBT mixers in San Francisco for two years, and organizing various other Stanford Pride events. Previously a real estate economist, Charlie is currently pursuing his MBA in Real Estate and Finance from the Wharton School. During his spare time, Charlie is an avid cyclist, serves as the Co-President of Wharton Out for Business, and enjoys traveling internationally and visiting his family in the Seattle area. BA Anthropological Sciences '05 Bay Area, CA As a Stanford undergraduate, Jonathan was involved with the direction of the Safe and Open Spaces at Stanford program (SOSAS), LGBT-CASA (the LGBT-CRC's peer-mentoring program for queer and questioning first-year students) and Black and Queer at Stanford (BlaQS). He is currently pursuing his PhD in epidemiology at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, where he studies infectious diseases, social networks, and health policy. Co-President of Stanford Pride BA International Relations & Political Science '03 Washington, DC BA Political Science '02 Bay Area, CA Ex-Officio Board Members Assistant Dean of Students Director of the LGBT Community Resources Center BA, UC Santa Cruz MA, PhD Sociology, Brandeis Bay Area, CA Ben grew up on the Stanford campus. He received a BA in Praxis of a New Aesthetic for Dance from UC Santa Cruz and an MA and Ph.D. in Sociology from Brandeis University, where he also taught Queer Studies and Feminist Studies courses. In 1999 he returned to the Stanford campus as an Assistant Dean of Students and the first full-time Director of Stanford's LGBT Community Resources Center.
