Welcome!

| Pres. Barbara Ward (in white) and Board members Margaret Garms, Nancy Kaible, and Linda Landau |
We are an active group of nearly 400 alumnae, wives of alumni, daughters of alumnae, mothers of past and current Stanford students, and friends of the University, who reside in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
We provide members, who are of all ages, a wide variety of intellectual, cultural and professional offerings, and opportunities to meet great women sharing common interests.
Monthly programs include lectures by Stanford professors and other speakers of interest, workshops, excursions, special events such as musical and theatrical performances and receptions. Our annual events are our Books on Review panel in January and our Day on Campus in April. Some programs are held during the day on weekdays. Others are held in the evenings and on weekends to accomodate our varying schedules. All our programs are open to partners and friends.
Programs for the 2008-2009 year include:
September 7: New Students Send-Off Party at the Wente home - Livermore
September 18: Lunch Program at the Asian Art Museum - San Francisco
October or November: Fall Luncheon - TBD
November 23: New Members Reception at Linda Graebner's home
January 29: Annual "Books on Review" program featuring Stanford authors - Shadelands Arts Center, Walnut Creek
March 5: Evening Program with Dean of Religious Studies, Scotty McLennan
April: Annual Day on Campus - TBD
May: Spring Luncheon/Annual Meeting - TBD
In addition to monthly programs, we have six thriving Special Interest Groups for members.
Books There are several groups meeting each month at various times to discuss books of each group's choosing. Some have guest reviewers. Professional/Business Networking, assisting one another with current work/home issues, interesting speakers and career-related workshops are central to this interest group that meets on weekday evenings or weekend to accommodate our working members. Bridge Groups meet on different days and times with a varied format of play. Currently there is one couples group. Community Service - We will be volunteering in East Bay community service agencies, and we will continue to collect books for use in the Stanford hospitals. Gourmet International cuisine is the focus of this evening group, with members preparing dishes from assigned recipes. Husbands and guests are invited. Travel Group members share memorable experiences and photographs as they describe recent trips all over the world. Golf We are trying to start an informal, fun-focused golf group which will play about once a quarter on local courses.
See the links at top left for detailed information on the Groups and how to join them.
