| A message from our chapter president... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Gracie Howell, '86, is the current Triangle Chapter President. Welcome! I want to extend a very hearty welcome to all of you who have found us in cyberspace! The local Stanford Club board members are very excited about continuing the momentum of the Triangle Stanford Alumni Club here in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. We are taking an optimistic yet realistic approach to serving some of the needs of the local Stanford community. The goals of the current chapter are to provide a local vehicle for connection (e.g., to meet new friends or rediscover old ones) among people associated with Stanford and to have fun along the way. Events As many of you know (because you took part in one or more events), the local chapter has created opportunities to interact with people affiliated with the local Stanford community in several ways, including: Freshman Send-Off Parties - hosted for the newest incoming Stanford class, their families, and our local Stanford contingent Business A note on the boring business stuff... Our club annual dues are $20.00 and cover the period October 1 – September 30. Your dues provide invaluable funding to cover basic expenses related to running the North Carolina Alumni Club, which receives NO funding from the Stanford Alumni Association or the University. Your dues allow our unpaid volunteers to host diverse, meaningful and exciting events for the entire membership. Please send checks made payable to the Stanford Club of North Carolina to P.O. Box 98684, Raleigh, NC 27624–8684. Behind the Scenes In closing... Volunteers have freely offered their time, talents, and enthusiasm to plan and execute programming, promotion, and even web site creation! Thanks to all of you who have participated in the events and a special thanks to those of you who have pitched in and lent a hand behind the scenes! Please continue to attend the events and offer insight into ways to energize the local Stanford community and provide a vehicle for connection and fun. Volunteers and people interested in becoming more involved (even in a very small way) are welcome. Please contact me directly if you have ideas or further interest in getting involved. I look forward to seeing you at the next event. Go Stanford! Gracie Howell |
